CAN WE FIND SUCH A ONE AS THIS – Genesis 41:38

Genesis 41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

Pharaoh had asked Joseph to do the impossible and upon completion, Pharaoh saw that God was with him and promoted Joseph. Pharaoh understood that it was not the strength of Joseph that enabled him to do what he did but that God was with Joseph.

When was the last time your secular boss saw the light of God in your life and gave you a promotion? Bosses are always looking for leaders who are trustworthy. They are used to receiving pushback anytime they ask someone to do a very difficult task. Joseph was asked to interpret a dream and rather than just do the impossible, Joseph went above and beyond and made sure Pharaoh knew that it was God through Joseph that made Joseph a man that Pharaoh desired to place in a position of great leadership.

The light of God was apparent in the life of Joseph. When Pharaoh placed Joseph in a position of leadership, he knew that he was getting a man who was trustworthy. Pharaoh did not have to worry about Joseph trying to usurp his throne because Joseph demonstrated that he was a man who was accountable to God.

If you work for a worldly boss, you must understand that you may be the individual whom God desires to use to demonstrate that there is a living God. If you are just like all the other employees, coming to work late, leaving early, taking too long of breaks, playing on the internet, and complaining about every extra project that the boss gives you, then you will not properly reflect the light of God.

Instead, you need to follow the example of Joseph and the commands of Christ in that you actively go the extra mile. When you possess a cheerful spirit when asked to do a difficult if not impossible task by your boss, your boss will know that there is something different about you. If you then proceed to not only do what you are asked but to do more than what you are asked, your boss will desire to reward you because he or she understands that you will make them successful and will make them look good to their bosses.

It is no longer appropriate for you to simply get along with your life. You need to be a testimony to those around you. Your focus on life cannot be how much money you can make or how much influence you can weld. Instead, your focus needs to be upon God and how you can reflect HIS light with those around you. If your focus is upon God, HE will be able to use you in ways that you never imagined.

You will never be the light that God desires you to be if your focus is upon the things of this world. You must exercise temperance to restrain yourself from acting just like everyone else acts around you. A light house does no good if it is trying to blend in with the darkness; so also a flashlight that desires to blend in with the night will not help the person who is lost.

Joseph interpreted the dream of Pharaoh and went above and beyond the call of duty by advising Pharaoh as to what to do next. Because of what Joseph did, Pharaoh understood that God was with Joseph and that he would be stupid for not retaining Joseph in a position of leadership. Joseph’s decision to trust God and to properly reflect the light of God in his life resulted in the fulfillment of his dream.
