WAIT AND SEEK – Lamentations 3:25
Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
The words wait and seeking do not seem like they belong in the same passage. A very quick glance at this passage would cause one to scratch their head and wonder what this verse means. Wait typically means do not go whereas seek means you better be moving. How can one be stopped and going at the same time? Is God asking us to do two opposite things at the exact same time?
Abraham is a good example of the verse in this passage. God promised Abraham many things. God promised Abraham a son. God also promised Abraham that his descendants would inherit the Promise Land. Abraham could not do anything to help his descendants inherit the Promise Land, all he could do was continue to seek the Lord and draw closer to HIM. Because God had closed the womb of Sarah, there was not anything that Abraham could do to have a child through Sarah so that God’s will could be accomplished through him.
Abraham had received many promises but he had to wait on the Lord. However, just because he was waiting on the Lord, it did not mean that he sat around doing nothing. Instead, while he waited on the Lord to fulfill HIS promises, Abraham continued living his life seeking the Lord and drawing closer to HIM.
Waiting on the Lord is never easy. It is not something that comes natural to us. We naturally desire to be out doing something great and important. We do not feel useful if we are sitting around doing nothing. However, during times of waiting, it is also the time for you to be drawing closer to God. Do not allow Satan to convince you that you are able to sit around and do nothing. Instead, use the times of waiting in your life to draw closer to HIM. Start seeking the Lord and what HE will have you to do. As you draw closer to God, HE will show HIMSELF strong in your life.
Joseph had to wait many years for the Lord to bring to pass the fulfillment of his dreams. However, while Joseph was waiting on the Lord, he lived his life in a way that was pleasing to God. Joseph naturally rose to high positions while he was both a slave and a prisoner. Joseph may have been a slave, but God was good to him. Joseph may have been a prisoner, but God was good to him. It does not matter what terrible circumstances surrounded his life, God was with him and God was good to him.
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purposes. This means that it does not matter what is going on around you, if you will continue to seek God and put God first in your life, God can turn your difficult situation into something for HIS glory.
You need to fill your life with God’s virtue. You need to fill your mind with the things of God. It does not matter what is going on around you, you must learn to seek the Lord. God may have you in a time of waiting, but there is always time to seek the Lord. God’s promises are great and they are worth waiting for, but you need to pursue a closer relationship with God. As you wait and seek HIM, watch how HE blesses your life.
