MEAT IN DUE SEASON – Psalms 145:15
Psalms 145:15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
God desires that your eyes be fixed upon HIM for your needs. HE does not want you looking to anything else for your substance. God will allow trials to come into your life so that you are looking to HIM. God will bring you to a breaking point so that your complete trust must be in HIM.
When the nation of Israel was wondering in the wilderness, they had to rely upon God for their provision. If they needed water, it was God who provided. If they needed bread, it was God who provided. If they needed meat, it was God who provided. Unfortunately, the nation of Israel did not trust God for their provision. Instead of realizing that God led them into the wilderness and that HE would provide for their every need, they did not trust God and instead blamed HIM for the trials that were meant to draw them closer to God. There trials were designed to help them realize just how powerful of a God they served, but they took God for granted and were not grateful for HIS provision.
Think of a baby eagle in the nest. It is not strong enough to fly and gather its own food. Instead, the baby eagle must depend completely upon its mother for its provision. When the mother eagle comes back to the nest, the baby eagle looks towards its mother with full expectation that its mother has brought it something to eat. The baby eagle is not disappointed and it receives its substance.
The picture of the baby eagle looking towards its mother is the same concept that David is trying to get us to understand in this verse. God desires that our eyes be fixed upon HIM. We do not know when HE is going to provide, but we know that HE will provide and more importantly, we are expecting our provision from no one else other than HIM.
Jesus told us that unless we had the faith of a little child, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. A little child does not spend all day worrying about where the next meal is coming from, instead, the child simply comes to the dinner table and enjoys the meal. We need to have that kind of faith with God. We cannot become like a young adult who thinks that they know it all and depend upon their own strength.
God is all that you need. When things get tough, you need to turn to HIM and draw closer to HIM. The closer your relationship with God is, the more HE will be able to use you. When all your trust is in HIM, God is able to show HIMSELF strong in your life. When you trust in yourself and your own strength, then God will have to bring extra trials into your life so that you might once again learn to trust in HIM. Do not let yourself get to the point that you do not set your eyes upon HIM and rely upon HIM for your provision.
Set your eyes upon God and place your complete trust in HIM. Fill your mind with the things of God so that Satan has no ability to distract you with your own strength. As you fill your life with the mind of Christ, you will learn to have a whole new relationship with God. As you allow God’s virtue to flow through your life, you will learn to wait upon the Lord for your substance. David said that he never saw the righteous begging for bread. God is able to meet your every need. Learn to completely trust in HIM.
