THE POWER OF GOD – Psalms 83:18
Psalms 83:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
After Elijah prayed and God brought fire down from heaven, the people fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.” (1 Kings 18:39). God demonstrated HIS power and the nation of Israel had no choice but to acknowledge the sovereignty of God.
Joshua sent two spies into Canaan. Rahab told the spies how the news of God’s supernatural work in parting the Red Sea caused terror to fall upon the inhabitants. The citizens of Jericho knew that God had given the nation of Israel great military victories. Rahab told the spies that “as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.” (Joshua 2:11).
God can do the impossible. It does not matter how difficult of a situation that you face, God through you can ensure that the world knows that HE is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Almighty God. There is coming a day when every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The question is; will the heathen tongues confess that Jesus is Lord after their death or will they confess that Jesus is Lord while they still have a chance to repent and accept God’s gift of salvation.
People naturally worship the most powerful thing. Look at a sporting event, if the team is winning, all across the nation, people are all of a sudden fans of the winning team. If a player is considered the best, his or her fame is through the roof. However, as soon as someone comes along who is better, people are quick to forget their former hero so as to jump onto the bandwagon of the next new powerful phenomenon.
You serve Jehovah, the most high over all the earth. HE is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. HE is the Captain of your Salvation, the Bread of Life, the Great I Am. HE is all you need. God desires that none should perish. HE has commanded you to be a light unto the world. God desires that when the world looks at you, they see the power of God reflecting through you. If the world sees you, why would they want to repent from their wicked ways? However, if when the world sees you, they see the testimony of God’s power in your life; then they might be like the nation of Israel that immediately fell on their faces and worshiped God. Then they might be like the city of Jericho and tremble at the power of God.
When the world looks at you do they see the power of God? What testimonies of God’s power in your life have you shared with those around you so that they understand that God is the Most High? God can do anything through you, but HE must receive the glory. If God is not going to receive the glory, why should HE show HIMSELF strong in you?
It is not about you on this earth, it is about your Creator. The reason you are here on this earth is to bring glory to your Maker. Until you are willing to change your mindset to live your life for the glory of God, your life will not properly reflect the power of God. Fill your life with virtue and watch the power of God flow through you.
